This has not been the case. Look at the 12 class. Players were not that highly rated and have performed at that level. We were all mocking ESPN for having Jalen Mills as a 2-star recruit, well he's played like it this year.

Your point is well taken. As badly as the defense has played this year, if LSU had better young players, or at least better potential, they would be playing them regularly. With few exceptions they are not. Based on this I expect a poor defense next year as D linemen do not typically start as freshmen and most of our young linebackers are not playing.
