I don't wear jerseys, but as a fan I would much rather wear a jersey of my favorite team than a polo or any other dress up shirt with a mascot logo or team name on it.
I have a similar view on polos, yes. I never wear them except for the one I occasionally wear under my LSU sweatshirt so the collar hangs over it and I'm jokingly and intentionally looking like my father.

Jerseys are acceptable when you are a fan of the team, Deal with it.
And those who wear them will be made fun of by people who aren't fanboys, but fans. Deal with it.

Everything is "acceptable." Even being a dork and wearing a jersey.

It just seems so much more cheesy trying to be classy about your sports team attire.. I would just wear a REAL polo, by ralph lauren, in my teams colors.
I'm a tshirt sweatshirt baseball cap man. Polos just seem like old people clothes to me. When I turn 50, I'll have a more informed opinion.

I don't like the feel of a football or basketball jersey, but i'll wear the shite out of a hockey or soccer jersey. I have 4 soccer jerseys and one hockey "sweater". I have a white Lidstrom, a red/blue sash USMNT Altidore, a red Liverpool Gerrard, a blank blue/white sash USMNT, and a blank home Philly Union.

You sound very dapper. I remember being 16 and making fun of literally every single thing that didn't fall in with my way of thinking too.
