Rely on the fictional character bond, if you must, but he's drinking a vesper, not a martini. Social mores of the cocktail world MUST be obeyed or the world will descend into chaos. A martini is made with gin. Period. Call your vodka drinks and neon candy apple flavored drinks martinis if you must, but just realize that you're contributing to the downfall of western civilization in the process.
