Duh, Doc...

Money vs Music... pick the music venue you want in your town...

edit: I will add that if BR ever proved a venue that size could make money booking good bands people would show up to... I'm sure things may have been different.. or maybe not, its gotta be easy to book utter dross and collect a paycheck...

It's making money and booking good bands.

They shy away from bands that draw 20 people that play at circle bar. I like a lot of those bands too. But they don't play big venues for several a reasons

What's utter dross there?

Yes, there will be tribute and cover bands, but there will also be arctic monkeys, turnpike troubadours, American aquarium, deftones, etc.

They have to be wide open and appeal to a large demo.

Not the niche market.
