Bad Service?

I read a lot of reviews that complain about service at many of the different places that we go to, never once have I had the alleged bad service myself. I think that some people just don't know how to get good service.

1. Dress appropriately, don't be the worst dressed people in the place. Jorts, a team jersey and a backwards ball cap get little respect unless there is a drive thru.

2, Treat the server with respect, engage them, ask their opinion, smile, make it pleasant for both of you.

3. Don't be a pain in the arse, control your children, don't be drunk. Let them know ahead of time if the bill is split or you have coupons.

4. 20% is real easy to figure out, go from there.

My father in law could get excellent service from a Lucky Dog vendor, I learned from him.

I often wonder about it myself when I see posts about bad service.

I guess it depends on how you view the world.

I went Acme in BR after the Florida game. It was packed of course and the flow was not good at all.

Drinks came out one at a time.

We weren't ready to order and they took a long time to come back so by the time they came back we ordered drinks, apps and entrees at the same time.

Manager brought us one item and the waitress brought the same thing and was surprised we had it.

BUT, the place probably went from no one there to full house all at once.

AND, they were trying hard, were polite and were doing their best.

I'm just not going to say "bad service" for things like that.

Bad service is someone acting like an a-hole. But that doesn't happen to me either.

I agree that you play an important role in the service you get. But I can recall a few instances where I was very patient and respectful and still got bad service. It's just one of those things.

I don't go out to get food very often though, so luckily y I don't have to deal with it a lot.

Also, why would your tip matter? I mean, I know tip matters and I leave good tips but the server doesn't know the tip at the beginning of your meal.

Your recommendations only address one party in a three party experience. There's the customer, the waiter, and the cook.

No!

Some servers just suck! It's a job that requires certain skills, and not everyone hired has them.

I was in 5 restaurants over 7 years from 18-25 years old. And there are plenty of servers that just don't have it, and it has nothing to do with who they are serving.

Your pops Lucky Dog vendor isn't managing 5 tables and 20-25 patrons on a Friday night with a 45 minute wait. Not everyone can manage that situation, and those that can't, provide shitty service. It's not ill intentioned, as your implying. They are just incompetent.

So you go ahead and give them 20% to reward their incompetence. But that will only make them stick around for more suckers like you, when they should GTFO.
