Cut the chunk out of a junkyard 44 and weld it to a regular trailer axle
I'd take the gears out of a broken 44 and run a solid axleshaft all of the way through with d44 hubs so it wouldn't drag

You're overthinking what I was saying.
Take your basic old standard trailer axle. Take a cut out D44 diff, and hack it to where you can put it over the axle for cosmetic purposes.
