Now here I would have typed "Try not following this rule..."

You are correct. That is much more concise.

This is just horrible. Please re-write this and submit it again, you may get some partial credit.

I don't know about "horrible," but, yes, it could be better.
How about this:

Try not following this rule when writing an English Lit paper. Your professor will disagree.

Oh, do not question CW again, as this has resulted in a few posters 'disappearing' forever.

I'm not familiar with CW and his apparent position here on TD, so thanks for the tip. No disrespect intended.

Just unnecessary...omit and never use again.

I agree.

But again, we are drifting...It is Manwich about whom we should be concerned. He remains well.

I'm glad Manwich, whomever he is, is well. I was concerned about Vols & Shaft, which is why I posted, originally, when I saw him mentioned. In any case, you are correct again regarding the thread drifting off course. Good luck to Manwich.

Btw, your knowledge of the usage of correct grammar is refreshing.

It saddens me that you do not know of his work. He has won about 87 Droppies in nearly every category. Strangest thing is, even with all of the awards and adulation, he is still down to earth, generous, a kind and great family man. Many a lesser fellow would have developed the big head, started leading a life of excess or even cursing in public. Not Manwich. He is the greatest poster ever...named after a canned meat food product. He is stronger than Einstein and smarter than Lou Ferrigno...
