During this entire "mini-run" or "baby-Saban run" the best team Bama beat was '11 LSU - and it took a 2nd chance rematch for them to beat LSU...not winning the division or SEC. Sorry, but Bama has been placed in the title game by the media too many times while not even doing the job on the field even with a weak arse SEC schedule.

This is why I vote for Nebraska or Miami...

No second chances needed, no need for a Nebraska or Miami alum to rig the schedules so their rivals had a run that was 2-3X harder, and despite the fact they were already media darlings, they didn't need ESPN to "sell" their runs to the public.

They're making a good argument
No telling how long a great run can last, but hopefully we're blessed with more

No.

Nebraska was 60-3 from '93-'97

Oklahoma: 107-8 ('48-'58)

Miami: 78-6 ('86-'92)

Bama's run has been tremendous but in terms of a dynasty they are not the best.

The way the system is set up within the conference and nationally, I do not see how Bama can't win more.

In fact, you should be disappointed if they don't, especially this year.

Bama is teaching us one important thing about college football that has always been true, and will be amplified more with the playoff:

Championships are not won ON THE FIELD as much as they are won OFF THE FIELD.

I remember watching them in awe. It was similar to Bama now. They just seemed unstoppable.

Only better. That 1995 Nebraska is way better than any team Bama has put out the last 5 years.

Canes. What they did to teams that were ranked in the top ten was sick.

Some perspective needs to be added with Dr. Tom lovefest on their "3 our of 4 -year" dynasty:

Nebraska’s strongest conference opponents during its run were a Colorado squad on the back end of its stretch of success and a Kansas State team getting its feet underneath it for the first time. Oklahoma was still reeling, and Nebraska lost its only matchup against Texas during the 1994-97 run.

Miami, USC and FSU had better runs and way better OOC opponents. Pac-12 might not have been awesome but during USC's run they had a winning record against the SEC and USC always scheduled Top 10 opponents OOC...as did Miami have a good schedule and went to places like ND when they had become dominant - as well as - the annual FSU match. Miami was playing arguably the #2 team in the nation most years...Nebraska didn't have that with Oklahoma - they fell off the map after Switzer and started to truly stink.

Nebraska had one truly great team - 1995. Where they beat 4 Top 10 teams easily.

'94 could have gone to PSU...'97 split and only a split b/c of a miracle win vs. Mizzou...otherwise, Michigan takes the whole cake.

I wish Oklahoma hadn't fallen off the map during that period. Watching Nebraska beat up on Iowa St., Pacific, Mizzou, Kansas, Baylor, Texas Tech, TAMU wasn't great.

1994 team beat 4 ranked teams and #3 Miami @ Miamis home field I the Orange bowl. 1997 beat 3 raned teams and pretty much dominated everyone with the exception of Mizzou and Colorado, and Crushed # 3 TENN, with Peyton in The Orange bowl.

Wut? They won the conference 2-3 times, with an undefeated and a 1-loss team.

Pay attention. IF Bama wins it again this year, there's no argument.

No offense but that 1994 Miami team by then was living off of reputation. Their offense wasn't what it used to be at all...that team relied on their D that got gassed against Nebraska trying to keep Miami in the game.

1994 Miami scored:

23 against Boston College
27 against Syracuse
17 against Pittsburgh
24 against VaTech
24 against Rutgers
20 against Washington (L)

...and 17 against Nebraska...they lost 24-17.

1995 was the great team...the others were really good but PSU would was also unreal in '94.

The Big 8 was just bad though with Oklahoma sinking.

I'm sure you will get plenty of argument from LSU fans.

Never before has the loser got a second chance to win the national title. So - LSU might put on asterisk on your 3-peat.

So why were they #3??? Reputation??? YES they lost to neb 24-17 but there is a reason they got 'GASSED".

I agree and Nebraska took advantadge and DOMINATED most. I have three teams that could be considered the BEST EVER. 1972 USC 1995 Nebraska, and 2001 Miami. At this point in history I have to go with 1972 USC. That team was LOADED at the time more than any other team was over other teams in any era.

4-5? "LSU" can put a wig on it and carry it around to parties if they want to.

I was referring to the Canes from the 80's.

In that game against Nebraska, Sapp played a helluva game. Problem was, their damn receivers, loudmouths and and as fast as they were, couldn't catch passes that night. They catch passes, oh well, thats why you play the game.
