well mostly bc it wasn't even viewed as a punishment by the cfb audience. it was viewed as mercy kneel on the 1 vs a hapless opponent.

i don't see how it's cruel. you go against a coach, you suffer some kind of repercussion. the game was out of hand. you guys can't run the play as called, we'll give it to the other team.

i don't even view the crime or punishment as that serious. as was said, mett was laughing about it afterwards.

That's what leads me to believe it was more a case of Les truly feeling he was doing a noble thing by taking a knee rather than an attempt to send a message to Mett.

I wouldn't want to try to get inside the mind of Les Miles but I suspect if he were truly angry with his QB then Mett would have come off the field and spoken too in private. Taking a knee with five minutes to play just to discipline a single player is extreme IMHO.
