I left Metairie at 9:30 as well, I was at my tailgate for 11, and that included a pit sto for shots along the way.
Coming from Metairie, most people take Hwy 30 from Gonzales, or exit College, Acadian or Dalrymple off of I-10...

Airline is pretty quick.
Or just take the interstate to Louise exit and loop around.
