re: Why can't LSU force ticket holders to use their tickets?

I have worked in live TV for 8 years: Grammys, MTV VMAs, Spike TV Guys choice awards, Miss Universe, many concerts and so on. All of these shows have the same problem LSU is having. There are people that buy tickets through corporations, people who buy tickets but can't make it, and people who buy tickets and don't want to come. My experience is a lot of times wealthy types and celebrities will get tickets and then not show. All of this creates an image problem for live telecast. So these shows fix the issue with seat fillers.
It's simple. LSU needs to create and staff a department for live tv that administrates filling seats. They pick a timeframe after kickoff where they see which tickets weren't scanned at gates. They then turn to a group of individuals who are the actual seat fillers (bodies) who would have a game day arm band and would essentially sit for free and watch the game. They could be military, high school, low income or simply volunteers willing to watch the game. If their seat is claimed late, they report back to administrators for new seating assignments.
This insures all seats are filled and ticket holders are still happy. Ticket holders would need to sign a consent that acknowledges that this will be done if they fail to occupy seats.
