Is this the first time watching top chef? A lot of the challenges are about creativity. It's not just about making the best classic gumbo. Plus Chef Chase has a pretty popular green gumbo she makes herself.

Yes it is. Not the first time watching a cooking challenge show though.

I understand that but most of these dishes didn't seem like they captured "anything" about gumbo. Some of the chefs didn't even know what gumbo was or even how to cook it. You would think that them coming to New Orleans they would have done some kind of research.

To tell you the truth, I've never even heard or seen this green gumbo of hers until I saw the show and you said something and I googled it.
