Ask yourself this question, why are they offering this service only for Bitcoin tranactions? If it is such a winning business model, why not offer it for credit card transactions in dollars or other currencies? Shouldn't they be able to take business away from existing merchant services providers since they claim to be reducing the merchants' costs?

We know why. They want to operate in the uninformed and unregulated space. I think they are going to focus on the vendors and not haircut the customers any. Customers pay in bitcoin, merchant does the conversion, gets haircut

the community would not respond positively.
Evidence of that can be summed up in several posts which say "I don't care how much money I lose on bitcoin as long as I know I'm pissing Bernanke off."

I think they know a shitton about the "currency" but know almost nothing with regards to regulations, regulators or monetary policy.

Hence, my qualifying their lack of intelligence in "financial matters."

there is no reason that a business should be paying 3% or more plus a $0.10 to $0.15 per swipe fee to simply perform a transaction. (this is no jab at Square which at least seems to be attempting to disrupt this space, but rather at the traditional model that companies like Visa/MasterCard use)
I'd be in credit card point earning heaven if Square lowered its transactions fees to less than 1%.

How many degrees to do you currently hold? How many businesses do you own? Do you really want to go down this road?
