Did you ever check out the "events" button in your guild? There are 2 different events as of now: boss battles (which are done daily), and torch battles (which are only on wednesday and saturday).
Our guild does boss battles every night at 8:30 central. You just fight a centaur boss to earn honor badges.
Torch Battles last 12 hours, which is kind of stupid because only the last 15 minutes matters. But if you haven't done it before, I recommend against just jumping in because there's a bit of strategy. All you need to do is go to the torch battle page every Wed and Sat evening to collect your rewards (some HB and 600-ish shards).

You mean that Storm Mesa thing? Tried soloing it from the bottom end of the map. My team got to the boss and proceeded to beat on him for a good 30-40 seconds before he got bored and squished errybody. During that time his health bar didn't move. :(
