re: 51 seconds left, you're down 10 at the 10 yard line with no timeouts

Get the TD. If you get the onside kick then you only have to drive ~20 yards and then kick the FG.
You might not be that close to scoring a TD again, so might as well get it now.

also you can get a touchdown from anywhere... you need to get within a certain range for a field goal

FG.
Onsides kick.
I'll take the Georgia St job for the second half against Bama. Look for lots of knee problems for Bama.

Not in high school.
Saw the Rummel kicker miss that exact FG in 2ot to lose the game last night.

Kick the FG and preserve time. If you get the onside kick you at least have the chance to toss up a prayer if time runs out. You can't kick a FG from the 50 though. Unless you are Lane Kiffin of course.

we had another questionable situation where we were down 3 with 5 minutes left, 4th and 2 on about the 29... the outer limit of our kid's FG range IMO, and we called a pass to our best RB who dropped it...
belle chasse has a really potent offense and that might have had something to do with it. against a team you feel like you can stop, you go for the field goal then play defense
