Is it a shotgun wedding? Usually you get a "save the date" card 4-6 months in advance of the wedding. It sounds like you might've been on the "b team" list of possible invites. I doubt they would be offended if you didn't go and gave a nice gift.

Yea, he is invited to my wedding. One of my only good friends from my brief stint in law school.

I'm not sure but I think Save the Dates are going out of style in this technology age; my fiancé and I aren't sending them because it's a waste of money and every body knows when the wedding is anyways.

Who needs a freaking magnet with our picture on it, anyways?

As tempting and potentially hilarious as this sounds, I live in Texas and deal with Aggies bullshite daily (I.e. Their putting up billboards strategically around Houston that have Sumlin & Manziel with big bold letters saying "This is SEC Country"). I won't miss this game for the world.

Weddings suck and your friend will probably have at least one more during his life. Go to Baton Rouge on Friday and send a nice gift.

For those that scheduled their wedding on a bye week, aren't you worried whether a big game will be scheduled on one of your anniversaries?

This guy's ability to think ahead, as evidenced by this post, seems at odds with his inability to find the optimum solution to the timing conflict.

"Save the dates" aren't about saving the dates. They're about minimizing the chance that folks will forget to buy you a gift.

So: Gift. Ceremony. Car. Sleep. Tailgate. Aggiepounding.

I'm getting married in February. We planned our wedding around football season. It's what normal people do

Its just over 4 hours from Conroe to BR. You can make it easy. Leave the reception by 8-8:30 and make it to BR around midnight or a little later.
Take 105 east out of Conroe. It will take you out in the country boonsticks with little to no traffic and will dump you out right at I-10 in Beaumont. You'll miss all that Houston I-45/I-10 traffic. I go that way every year when coming in for Texas Renaissance Festival.

What's the chance the game is a night game?

CBS has first dips on the game they want to televise, if the LSU/A&M game is the best game on the schedule then you are hosed CBS will choose that game to televise.

Here is the schedule for that week;

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 23RD

Missouri at Ole Miss
Texas A&M at LSU
Kentucky at Georgia
Mississippi St. at Arkansas
Vanderbilt at Tennessee
Chattanooga at Alabama
Coastal Carolina at South Carolina
Georgia Southern at Florida

From the looks of the schedule, you have more of a chance of the wedding being rescheduled than CBS not picking up that game to televise and CBS's SEC game of the week is always at 3:30pm eastern.

Looks like it is no sleep for you until Sunday!!!! Some of the best trips I have made to watch the Tigers play were trips that were the biggest pains in the arse to do, but the Tigers beating A&M and JFootball again priceless!!!

Tell your friend to dump the girl and join you for the game. If his woman plans a wedding during the season, she is tipping her hand as to the type of wife she will be.

This is the only correct answer.

My opinion is to think this through: The relationships you have with friends will last for a long, long time. The memory of a football game will only linger until the next "game of the century" is played (probably later this year or next). Go to the wedding to keep your relationship intact, either tell them you are heading out after the ceremony OR pay your respects to the couple shortly afterwards, and then drive to the game. At least the game is the next day, and you have a good solution.

Be fortunate you live where you do--close enough to get to the game. If some of us had the same quandry, we would have to miss one or the other.

Choose well, my friend--consider your future.
