The $160-215k was with paid overtime. His base was like $135k I believe. Helps to work in an area of shortage and he was taking call the others didn't.
Working for himself now, he can make bank. Granted, his current situation is not typical. But I know of a few cRNA's that work for themselves and make that or close to it. Of course, that's just what they tell me. My mom does my bro's billing for him. So, I don't doubt his.
He can pull 250k-300k a year if he is doing about 15 endoscopys a day.......it's a shitty life literally and figuratively.......but its possible.
I do some side work and get 150/hr for endoscopy work with a minimum of 4 hours....pushing propofol and looking at a screen of someones colon isn't my cup of tea regardless of money...
Well, I take that back if they paid me 200/hr and had wifi I'd be cool.......

That seems like a pretty low stress job in that you don't bring your work home with you. If I had to do it over I would go that route.

$80K, Research Scientist in small biotech. Teach one class a semester at the local community college ($8K) and do freelance scientific editing, primarily with a company in India ($5K).
Your comment about low stress and not taking your work home with you is something I think about daily. I'm to the point now that when my company implements its exit strategy, I could reasonably see myself as a tenured community college instructor making ~75% of what I make now. 9-3, Mon-Thurs, with half a day on Fri, teaching folks basic Chemistry is very appealing to me at the moment. Those state-mandated pay scales are pretty surprising.

That's a great pay rate for teaching a single class at a cc. I know for a fact there are science dep'ts at self proclaimed "top tier" universities who don't pay adjuncts that much.

How big and what city? Hook me up with a summer associate position!!

It breaks down to 3 semesters a year at a little over $2500 per. It helps that it's a 4 credit hour course and the pay is based on that. Still, if I taught a full load (4 sections) at the adjunct rate, it's still less than half what the tenured guys get. But I've noticed that they are relying more and more on adjuncts, precisely for this reason.

For real. I teach in the late afternoon and the full time guy has never once been there when my class starts.

My bad, I thought you meant $8K for a single class, single semester. I was like damn. Still, that's pretty good for a part time job.
