Eddie Aikau. It was very well done. He is a legend in Hawaii, not just for his surfing. He was the first lifeguard at waimea bay where he saved tons of people. He smoothed over relations between Hawaiian surfers and explant surfers. He pioneered native Hawaiians surfing in major competition. And of course the mythical type end to the story, where it seems like he is still out paddling on his board as neither were found.

Like most 30for30's I figure it's good. But man the commercials didn't do it amy favors. They end every 30for30 commercial saying "what if I told you (enter cool line here _______)."
Ex: For a Kings Ransom about the Wayne Gretzky trade. "What if I told you, that a country would fail to protect its greatest national resource." Boom. I want to watch right now.
I knew it was a famous saying w/ suffers but it was just lame. "What if I told you, Eddie would go." umm, Ok.
