I don't care if he was playing out of his most natural position at LSU; he should have had a greater production. we palyed at least 6 below avg. teams last year. its hard to believe he was always double teamed with monty and logan etc. on defense.

Yea because Monty was such a force for us too and was always double teamed...
Being double teamed as a DE is diff than being double teamed as a DT. Mingo would get an OT or TE and a RB/FB would come and help out on him. DT gets double teamed by 2 OL.
Playing in a 4-3 caused Mingo to put his hand in the dirt and play directly across from an OL. That pretty much takes his speed away from him. As soon as the ball is snapped, the OL was on him and engaged him because hes lined up right in front of him. Mingo isnt a bull rushing type of player. He is a player that needs to be in space to allow his to use his speed. a 3-4 OLB is perfect for him. He can use his speed and athleticism to get away from a blocker.
Regardless what you think, the type of system that a team runs directly impacts every player, especially when it comes to production. Mingo never said anything about his position, the coaches put him where he would best fit our D, and he played that spot and played very hard and was a huge asset to LSU. Hes 1 of those defensive players that other teams had to game plan for and know where he was at all times.
Sure, his sack total wasnt great. But, didnt he led the SEC is QB hurries for 2 seasons?? QBs and offenses were very aware of where he was lined up at all times and would get the ball out extremely fast.
oldschoolgreats...since you have such an issue with him, why do you think his production wasnt great at LSU??

You just have no idea what you are talking about, do you?

Dude how stupid can you be? Sam and Mingo might not have registered a ton of sacks last year (8 for Sam, 4.5 for Mingo), but they put on a ton of pressure and got in the backfield often. If you ever watched the games, Sam took up most of the double teams last year and it gave Mingo a chance to get disruptive.
