Somehow they think it is better for fans to down a shite load of alcohol then go inside the stadium than to drink casually throughout. People are going to get too drunk either way but at least let them pace themselves and make money off it.

Adding the 12th game started the ball rolling on this.

I don't think the Cowboy's Classic happens with an 11 game schedule, but generally, fans get very complacent in week 4 every season.

People don't get excited until the conference races really start. Even then, Bama winning 3/4 hurts the overall game. Fans think they have little to no shot to see their team win a NC, and with one BCSNC spot taken before week 1, it makes their hopes thinner.
