Absolutely. Got my BMC from a shelter without knowing what he was. Took us a couple months to figure out exactly what he was but it didn't matter.
Has always been a little skittish since he was obviously a street dog (the shelter owner found him in a flowerbed extremely malnourished walking on the front of his paws), but has adjusted really well since then.
We were really scared that he wouldn't adjust to out newborn (2 months now) but he's nothing but loving towards her.
Please, please, please... Somebody consider taking this dog, it'll be the best dog you ever have. Intensely loyal...

Almost forgot.
We live in Hou, but when we go to BR my family has ~ 20 acres in Zachary and he has the time of his life out there. Will chase the 4-wheeler as long as can and run down to the beach on the Comite and just wade in the water happy as a clam.
Again, can't endorse this dog enough. She might be a little work, but with a little training she'll be the best dog you own...
