But I will say that Ted ending up with Robin really strips any sympathy the viewer should have about the mothers death. I mean the whole show is about how ted met the kids MOTHER. Then we are left with a 5 second oh yea she died and there's just zero feeling there.

They had an emotional goldmine on their hands story-wise. We know everything about Ted, and we know JUST enough about the mother.

Can you imagine the ending just being "Kids, that's how I met your mother. And as amazing the 9 years I spent leading up to just meeting her was, they were nothing compared to the joy I had in the 10 years I spent with her."

They could have shed the tears of EVERY person watching.
