Who mandates that the band can't be larger than 325 people?

It's been that way a long time, probably at least two decades. I think it's one of the smallest in the SEC. This is kind of annoying, because everyone else says the other SEC bands are better because they are louder, but they are actually only louder because they have dozens more members (not because they "outplayed" LSU).

I don't expect the band to increase its number of members any time soon, because these days they allot money to pay the band a "stipend"--more funding would need to come from somewhere to pay even more band members.

Oddly, now that the band is paid, they actually play less music than back when they were an all-volunteer band. For some reason, these days the stadium staff constantly pipes in music over the speaker system during points of the game when the band used to play. Seems like, if anything, it should be the other way around (i.e., "more pay = more play"). Meanwhile, the visiting bands don't care what is being broadcast on the JumboTrons or over the loudspeakers--they play continuously all game long. The GBFTL's administrators really should stand up to the stadium staff so they can at least have a fighting chance of winning the battle of the bands.

The band has been paid for at least 30 years that I know of (help me out here, los angeles tiger). And in the 80s, we didn't have all the first and second down tunes. The drums would play, but not the band. The band still plays way more now than they did when I was in. My lips were usually ground meat by the time the halftime show rolled around anyway, so it didn't matter.
