Film Study from the Game(with screenshots)

Going through the game a little looking at the difference in the defense...here are a few things I see that they are doing well:
1) The impact Kenny V. is making
It seems that through two games Kenny seems to be making Malcolm Jenkins a little bit of a better player.
Here is an example:
In the past the two safeties on the field were Malcolm Jenkins and Roman Harper. Now that Kenny V. is in town, it seems that Rob Ryan trusts him already in 1V1 coverage to allow the other two to drop and do what they do better.
TB's first drive/ 3rd and 7
Kenny is lined up towards the bunch on the left side. He drops into the middle to take away the middle deep. Jenkins stays flat to take away a dump or a slant, Roman is your check down or tight end. Kenny immediately takes away the long seam vs Vincent Jackson, allowing Kennan Lewis to focus on helping Jenkins with the check down. Roman Harper is about to be beat over the middle but the pressure forces Freeman to check it down right to Mike Williams and Jenkins makes a great open field tackle.
I will continue to go through the game and post things as I see it...discussion?

In the first 2 games it's fantastic to see The Saints running different formations on d. On this play it seems they are in a version of the 2-3-6 with Vaccaro playing the slot and Rafael Bush playing the free.
Rob is taking advantage of each players unique abilities and maximizing the good and minimizing the bad. The 2-3-6 or the 2-4-5 are fantastic for getting pressure on the QB quickly with your two best pass rushers playing as ends and your two DE's at tackle. Vacarro is doing exactly what he was drafted to do and that is to "stop the bleeding" against teams best big WR's and TE's. With the unexpected pressure from The Saints unheralded and unknown front 7 it makes everybody in the secondary do their jobs a whole lot easier
Kenny is making both Harper and Jenkins less vulnerable to those plays where we were all pulling our hair out. How many times in the first 2 games besides Jenkins bad angles in week 1 have Saints fans been cursing the name's of Harper and Jenkins. In fact in 2 games New Orleans Safties have combined for 3 turnovers and Jenkins is responsible for the FF that Harper recovered. Not bad for the "worst safety combo in the NFL".

It is 4 safeties its part of their nickle package with Jenkins playing CB. Rafael Bush has been a surprise so far he has played well.

Jenkins is actually playing better.
And Lewis is starting to play infinitely better than he did in the preseason.
I think this defensive unit is actually coming together.

Yeah Jenkins looked better last week and even week 1 although I cursed him a few times for getting beat over the middle in coverage. I agree about everything coming together and I think it all starts with Dline pressure. That can mask a lot of flaws and certainly helps the secondary out a good bit.

Don't Jenks it man (see what I did there?)
Good work Bduhon55. I'm wondering if KV was supposed to ride the seam immediately and fall back to the middle of the field. That would mean KL takes the deep ball to Jackson away. Just seems like the middle is way too exposed. Either way, great play.
