Do we even do the Geaux Tigers cheer during the game anymore? I remember that the cheerleaders used to start it, but it seems like they only do it during pregame now.

They don't ever let the crowd do it. Borne talks 90 percent of the time telling us about Eatel and verizon etc etc. Then the band plays (good), then they play music. Then play starts. That is the damage that is done by filling every waking second that play isn't going on with something artificial. You disconnect the fans from the game.

Well said. It's bad enough that the stadium itself is plastered with ads, but we also have to listed to Dan Borne babble incessantly about Associated Food Stores, Gerry Lane, Verizon, etc.

You have hit the nail on the head.

Go to any professional sporting event. There is not one second that is not occupied by SOMETHING, whether it is loud music, ads, or a promotion. It is like they think that if there is a second of silence, the crowd will get bored. The NBA is the worst because they allow crappy music and sound effects to go on during game play.

And now LSU is rolling with the wave and following the herd. The expert marketing gurus come from the same cloth as everyone else and they feel like there MUST be some sort of activity going on constantly. They are catering to the ADD/low attention span crowd. I miss the good old days when I could just chill for a while during timeouts and not be bombarded with noise.
