Chavis is a great DC (and arguably the best LB pos coach of al-time) but his D's at Tenn were seldom dominant. His best body of work is happening before our eyes. 2011 was a great D but in recent times 2003 has been the best.

As for this year's D, we're simply young and making young mistakes. I think Chief is probably experimenting some so there may be some lineup changes come Auburn game - I expect'em at LB and DB.

Great point. Similarly, Kelvin Sheppard in his 2nd yr under Chief became a force at LB in '10.

Linebackers and d backs will get better as it doesn't seem that who will be the starters going forward has been set yet. I expect to see some changes against Kent St and even more against Auburn. This is a young defense and it is still being sorted out. It will get a lot better. We have a lot of good young talent in DB's White, Robinson, and Jefferson along with LB's Louis, Debo, and Beckwith. Expect some changes to be made to make us faster and more athletic in the back 7. Those bad angles and losing containment problems will be taken care of once we get the better talent on the field. Got to remember a lot of these guys just got on campus. Kent St game should be real interesting.
