We've been calling it a 3-4, but is sure doesn't look like one. Will Smith was planned to start at one "linebacker", and now, we are keeping 3 "true" OLBs on the roster (I put "true" in quotes, because Galette has never played LB prior to this year, and Wilson, while a former LB, had also just moved to 4-3 DE too).

So- it's a 3-3 + a passrush specialist. Right? That means, in theory, Jordan can migrate over to that spot at times too, instead of Galette or Wilson, depending on what they want to do.

Just trying to wrap my head around this new scheme. Kinda seems like it's more of a version of Buddy Ryan's old 46 defense from the Bears (which, considering the family tree, isn't a surprise).

I couldn't tell you, but they're better than last years.

That's essentially what the Jack or Buck is in a 34.

We haven't really seen much of the defense we'll be playing this year. We've been in a lot of off man and zone coverage. People have suggested with our only keeping 3 OLB that we're likely to be playing a lot of 4-3 fronts, but if that were the case, I think we would have kept Richardson. Instead we kept more ILB, who have reportedly been cross training at OLB.

Next Sunday will be interesting.

Junior started out at LB in college and switched to DE. He feels more comfortable at LB. He was also a LB through High school.

At its heart its a variant of the 46 his daddy ran. Rex is the same way, as is Gregg Williams.

What is important is that it is not the Steve Spagnuolo defense
