We had salvinia in our 7-8 acre pond. LSU attempted the beetles but was unsuccessful due below freezing temperatures can pretty much wipeout the beetles.
We had to break a levee at the rear of the property, drain the pond, spray weed killer several times and then re fill the pond. We are still fighting small patches that pop up from time to time, but the pond looks better than ever. I would not wish that shite on my worst enemy tho, pain in the arse.

Yeah I would think conditions would have to close to perfect to get the desired result, which is it being totally removed.
