A lot of older LSU fans do still harbor this great 'what if' about him, but this fact (and knowing what sort of philosophy he had at NC State -- basically Woody Hayes, old Big 10 style football) tells me, he may have been Les Miles on crack offensively. I don't know that his offensive style would have been suited to what the SEC became in the 1980s. Whether he would have adjusted to the times, is the interesting question, I suppose.

i had to let that sink in...
all good points though. i don't know what kind of offense he ran at NC St., or what he carried over from being under Holtz, but you make valid points.
