Mine just crapped out. In the market for a new 12V deep cycle
Any recommendations?
Are the gel cells worth it?

Find a battery warehouse. Ask for cheap troll battries. I just got two for $96 total.

Depends on the application and how much you do as far as maintenance on batteries. AGM's are great for marine applications but not worth the cost if you don't maintain them with a float charger on and off season.

I've said this numerous times
If you go expensive, get a sears diehard platinum. If you go cheap, buy the one that has the best warranty, combined with best store location to trade out.
Most cheap or regular batteries come from just a few plants, so you are paying for the store/warranty.
If you have the room, golf cart 6 volt batteries are awesome as well, but expensive.
