re: Welding on lower unit?

if you took enough of the skeg off, instead of the motor bumping and riding over the next obstruction, your prop will take the hit, and destroy it and your internals.

edit: I did once have a lower unit with a home made skeg welded on it (before I got it), so it is doable.
