Welding on lower unit?

I struck the bridge of a small battleship with my yammie 225...

It knocked two chunks out... The biggest being about an inch long and almost half inch deep.

Didnt notice any performance difference yet but havent really been in clean water yet.

Can it / should it be welded up?

Maybe grind off and sharp burrs and then don't worry about it.
