descendants and minor threat have much more in common with what i think of when i hear "punk" as a genre. they more closely identify with 70s and what became of punk in the 90s than the sound fugazi developed.

fugazi was its own thing. too much going on there to just label it as simply "punk rock." if one was to construct a genealogy tree of punk as a genre, fugazi is def out on a branch all their own.
