I don't think Texas farms black tigers. They farm vannamei shrimp in texas which are pacific white shrimp.

From what I read, these black tigers escaped from shrimp farms in the carribean and/or south america.

They sure as heck used to farm Tiger shrimp in So. Texas, I worked with some of those folks. I was an independent seafood (shrimp) broker for 25 years. Now weather they still do or not I don't know. I'm happily retired.
They also farmed Vannamei shrimp as well( don't think they ever made any money)this specie also has escaped into the gulf waters. Last I heard they were farming Vannamei in China.
