Why isn't Collins starting if he's so special?? And he has lots of trouble covering WR in the UA game! Made up for mistakes with pure speed and Ath. but at this point Hootie is def a better cover guy! We will see? I think Hootie will play early, mayb not freshman year but soph year.... Hootie is also bigger and I think has more upside! People made that commitment such a big deal and only because AL beat us for our too recruit! He did not affect us what so ever on the field as far as depth and talent! Now will he affect a game against LSU in the future?? Mayb? We will see, he may help us at the same time, you just never know man!! Help us by blowing a coverage or trying too hard or some simple mistake! No matter what I can't wait to see!

The same reason that two time all American and top 10 draft pick Mark Barron didn't start as a true freshman, knowledge of the defense outweighs talent from sabans perspective. The best athlete in the world is useless if he doesn't know his job every play. A 4.7 guy that knows exactly what he's doing is going to be better on a football field than a 4.3 guy that is thinking out there. Thinking breeds doubt on the football field, doubt breeds hesitation. Defensive back is a reaction position.

As far as football skills go, Collins has had a year learning under Saban himself, it showed in the spring game. He had a nice pick where he undercut a flag route.
