365 Summits for Cancer. My buddy started this idea this year

after his father-in-law came down with cancer. His father-in-law has since passed, but I thought I'd share this idea with the outdoor board because I thought it was pretty cool. He has pledged to summit a mountain 365 times this year to help the fight against cancer, 1 for every calendar day. He's got some cool pics and videos on his blog site about it, y'all check it out.
Here is his blog
There is a link to the American Cancer society on his blog, in case you feel moved to donate.

It's not a different mountain he hikes every day for the most part. He lives close to Kennesaw Mountain, so he pretty much hikes that during the week everyday.

My sis in law is fighting cancer as I type. We are going to take her in when she can't take care of herself. Your buddy has a great thing going. I have no mountain to climb but I can walk around the lake.I will donate thru his site.

Sorry to hear that. Cancer Sucks. Everyone I know has been effected by it somehow or someway. Will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

thats cool as hell! and an awesome cause, had several close friends and family lost and/or still fighting this piece of shite disease. i just read it as he was doing a different mtn every day and was wondering how he worked to provide for his family and how he could afford to travel daily! Just me reading it wrong!

I've got cancer too. Just about everybody else here knows but you are new here and may not.

I'm 2 weeks post radiation and chemo for tongue cancer. (35 yr old Non tobacco user). I go for my first post treatment pet scan in a couple weeks and see how all that torture worked.

Thats a big moment. I do PET scans and its nerve racking waiting to see if it's gone or not. Wierd they are doing you 4 wks post radiation. Usually wait 6 weeks after. Will continue praying for you bro.
ETA: Did radiation mess up your saliva glands?

I'll never understand these things. The meditation about his FIL is a nice gesture for sure though.

Me either, guess its a personal want to do something and the feeling your helping in your own way. Im all for helping and usually just insist on my services for something.

I'm going for first follow up appt following radiation on friday and they are going to discuss the pet scan. I thought they told me it would be about 4 weeks after radiation. I could be wrong. I'm just glad radiation is over.

Hate that about the saliva glands. The worse long term complaint I hear and I couldnt imagine how irritating it would be.
Thats it man. Nothing wrong with 4 weeks really especially in an area that heals as fast as the tongue I bet. Hope your done with it
