There reason? Because it won't beat the best defenses with any consistency.
It gives teams a chance that might not otherwise have a chance, but so does the triple option, which, on paper, is the greatest offense every designed.
Using your logic, everyone should be running the triple option because it's schematically superior on a white board.

Since Florida's run and shoot, Missouri, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are the closest things to winning it all with that offense.

I guarantee you that had Cam Newton gone to Ga Tech instead of Auburn, Tech would have won a NC.
