signing with Miami would be chasing a ring imo

I really hate statements like this. It's not that it is false, but it seems like wanting to be on a championship caliber team is looked down upon these days. I would assume that chasing big contracts or something along those lines would be looked down up more, but I am apparently wrong.

It depends on who you are, where you are in your career, and how much money you've made.

If i were an upper tier player, latter in my career, and have made enough money to where me, my kids, and grand kids could spend, I would take less money for a chance to win.

But if I am a journeyman player, or in Oden's case, looking to resurrect my career, I'd look for guarantees.

Oh you would defend the team of ring chasers on the Miami heat.

I was referencing the scenario for oden not players in general. from the rumors we are prepared to offer him the most money and we are not title favorites or in the media spotlight as are the heat and spurs. we would be able to bring him along slowly and not much would be expected from him right away. the ideal place for his situation would be nola. the only benefit of going to Miami is a possible title shot this season.
