Costa gonna win.

The big question is how many Cubans will defect now that they are mathematically eliminated.

That was a nice turnaround in the second half. Castillo was poor on the goal, but he was good going forward.

Shea looks like a player who's played 2 games since January. It's to be expected that he would play poorly. He needs to play a lot next season if is to have any sort of shot at making the WC squad.

I really like Diskerund. He's so comfortable on the ball, and his game has flair that American midfielders generally lack. He's a better DLP than Beckerman in my estimation, and has massive upside.

Also Torres can be a magnificent playmaker for us. I'd like to see him against better competition.

In the first half, I thought the team shape was odd. I think Donovan, if he has to play as a forward, should work as a deep-lying forward rather than a more advanced forward. Once Donovan started moving horizontally he got in the game more, and orchestrated lots of nice interplay from shallow attacking positions.

I think Holden also needs a season of playing to get back to his best consistently. Maybe if the team was set up better in the first half he would have had more chances, but he couldn't receive the ball in attacking positions as the Cubans were really crowding the middle of the field and we were no threat on the wings. Perhaps he's more suited to a B2B role than a strictly AM role. I'll enjoy watching him play this next season.

Would like to see him against better competition, but I agree with this 100%.

Hold it steady Belize. A draw or a Costa Rica loss and we win the group today.

I think this team, at it's fluid, technical best, would have to include JF Torres and Diskerund somewhere. They might be bit part players this cycle, but the pace is faster and the play is more fluid when they are on the pitch.

Diskerund could be a DLP unlike any we have had. I should take pains to point out that he was raised in the most promising generation of Norwegian footballers ever. Norway, a country that loves the EPL, has long mimicked its play after that league, and now has taken the hint of cosmopolitanism from there and applied it to its youth ranks.

It seems like we've said this after every Torres appearance against a shitty team since, what, 2009?

I think this *is* his international ceiling.

If Wondo is doing all this damage can you guys just imagine what a guy with upside, like Will Bruin, would be doing ?

This is true. He just might not be strong enough for anything other than B team duty. But his ability to pick a pass and his vision is nonpareil. The outside of the foot ball to Castillo on the last goal was audacious and creative and executed perfectly.

I fear he might suffer from that playmaker syndrome where he has to be the lynchpin of the team, and he will never be afforded that opportunity in this national side, as he isn't dynamic enough in any other area aside from passing. I really feel he should have moved when he was linked with Spanish sides in 2010. It would have given us a clearer picture of his upside.

Let's pump the brakes a little.

Davy Arnaud looked like a world beater in the group stage of the 2009 Gold Cup.

Let's see how Mixx does with a step up in competition (club and country).

That may say as much about it as anything. Linked with bigger sides, but no transfer fees come.

There can certainly be a place for a player like Torres, but I think his physical limitations are going to keep him where he is (club and country.)

Ha, I did say "could."

Mix has a lot, and I mean a lot, of development to do before he becomes a regular starter for this national side. But the promise is undeniable. Granted, the same promise existed for a slew of other heralded prospects, so I hope he can live up to his potential. He is only 22, and it might be 25 before we see him actually develop as a DLP, so we'll have to be patient and hope upon hope that he develops the way we want him to.
