married couple were going out for the evening and called in a teenage babysitter to take care of their three children. When she arrived they told her they probably wouldn't be back until late, and that the kids were already asleep so she needn't disturb them.

The babysitter starts doing her homework while awaiting a call from her boyfriend. After awhile the phone rings. She answers it, but hears no one on the other end — just silence, then whoever it is hangs up. After a few more minutes the phone rings again. She answers, and this time there's a man on the line who says, in a chilling voice, "Have you checked the children?"

Click.

At first she thinks it might have been the father calling to check up and he got interrupted, so she decides to ignore it. She goes back to her homework, then the phone rings again. "Have you checked the children?" says the creepy voice on the other end.

"Mr. Murphy?" she asks, but the caller hangs up again.

She decides to phone the restaurant where the parents said they'd be dining, but when she asks for Mr. Murphy she is told that he and his wife had left the restaurant 45 minutes earlier. So she calls the police and reports that a stranger has been calling her and hanging up. "Has he threatened you?" the dispatcher asks. No, she says. "Well, there's nothing we can really do about it. You could try reporting the prank caller to the phone company."

A few minutes go by and she gets another call. "Why haven't you checked the children?" the voice says.

"Who is this?" she asks, but he hangs up again. She dials 911 again and says, "I'm scared. I know he's out there, he's watching me."

"Have you seen him?" the dispatcher asks. She says no. "Well, there isn't much we can do about it," the dispatcher says. The babysitter goes into panic mode and pleads with him to help her. "Now, now, it'll be okay," he says. "Give me your number and street address, and if you can keep this guy on the phone for at least a minute we'll try to trace the call. What was your name again?"

"Linda."

"Okay, Linda, if he calls back we'll do our best to trace the call, but just keep calm. Can you do that for me?"

"Yes," she says, and hangs up. She decides to turn the lights down so she can see if anyone's outside, and that's when she gets another call.

"It's me," the familiar voice says. "Why did you turn the lights down?"

"Can you see me?" she asks, panicking.

"Yes," he says after a long pause.

"Look, you've scared me," she says. "I'm shaking. Are you happy? Is that what you wanted?"

"No."

"Then what do you want?" she asks.

Another long pause. "Your blood. All over me."

She slams the phone down, terrified. Almost immediately it rings again. "Leave me alone!" she screams, but it's the dispatcher calling back. His voice is urgent.

"Linda, we've traced that call. It's coming from another room inside the house. Get out of there! Now!!!"

She tears to the front door, attempting to unlock it and dash outside, only to find the chain at the top still latched. In the time it takes her to unhook it she sees a door open at the top of the stairs. Light streams from the children's bedroom, revealing the profile of a man standing just inside.

She finally gets the door open and bursts outside, only to find a cop standing on the doorstep with his gun drawn. At this point she's safe, of course, but when they capture the intruder and drag him downstairs in handcuffs, she sees he is covered in blood. Come to find out, all three children have all been murdered

Time is an intangible idea, a dimension in which events pass chronologically without session. To kill time would be to destroy part of the continuum that holds our lives together.

It's more of a theory because, it can't be proven nor disproven. It is also not it's own dimension, but when combined with space, makes up the theoretical 4th dimension, also known as Spacetime. But is used merely as a tool to track events as they happen in succession. However, in the realm of quantum mechanics it is tangible. At least more tangible than gravitational singularity, where density and gravity become so overwhelming they vastly surpass any possible tangible measurement. But this "Singularity" is theorized to be found only at the epicenter of a supermassive black hole. I can only imagine what it's like in respects to an Ultramassive or even Hypermassive black hole.

Here's one for ya. Not really creepy, but I'll talk about a couple of night terrors I've had.

So I was about 14 or 15 when I figured out that sleeping on my back, for some reason, caused me to have night terrors. So I was about 15 and decided to sleep in the living room of my house one night. We lived in my friend's deceased grandfather's house. Ok that parts kinda creepy. Anyway, I wounded up falling asleep on my back and shortly after, my mom cut off the tv. They always started the same, it feels like I'm waking up but when I try to move, I can't. All I can do is kinda move my eyes and look around. There's always a darker corner of the room that I can't see but I can feel that something is there, and I feel like my life is in imminent danger. Usually at this point I start to breathe really heavy, start to struggle and wake up jolting straight up, and that night I did. But I was determined and wanted to see what was lurking in the shadows. So I layed back on my back since I know that it helps to induce these dreams. But this time I couldn't even feel the point when I fell asleep. It felt like I merely closed my eyes for a few seconds and when I opened them I just knew I couldn't be awake. The atmosphere completely changed. This time I felt like I was being held down instead of just being unable to move. I could move my fingers, eyes, and I could slightly move my feet. I had my hands balled into fists and was trying to lift my arms with everything I had. At this point, like before, I started to struggle and breathe heavily. But this time I felt pressure on my throat and couldn't breathe as well. Then couldn't breathe at all. I could hear a low growl coming from the dark corner and could swear I saw a figure beginning to stand up. At this point I was scared shitless. The low growl turned into a high pitched shriek and the figure began to move closer. At this point It felt like whatever was holding me let go and I wounded up punching a hole in the wall behind the couch because I was still struggling to lift my arms and didn't stop till my hand hit the wall. Broke two knuckles. Now I never fall asleep on my back... ever.

I dont know if this is even remotely true or not.. but I read this at 3 am last night and it scared the everliving shite out of me. easily the scariest thing I've ever read in my life..

I should have heeded your warning. It's 6:30 am and I'm half awake but that was very troubling. That dug to the very base fear that's down deep.I wish I hadn't read it.

quote:

In 1983, a team of deeply pious scientists conducted a radical experiment in an undisclosed facility. The scientists had theorized that a human without access to any senses or ways to perceive stimuli would be able to perceive the presence of God. They believed that the five senses clouded our awareness of eternity, and without them, a human could actually establish contact with God by thought. An elderly man who claimed to have “nothing to left to live for” was the only test subject to volunteer. To purge him of all his senses, the scientists performed a complex operation in which every sensory nerve connection to the brain was surgically severed. Although the test subject retained full muscular function, he could not see, hear, taste, smell, or feel. With no possible way to communicate with or even sense the outside world, he was alone with his thoughts. Scientists monitored him as he spoke aloud about his state of mind in jumbled, slurred sentences that he couldn’t even hear. After four days, the man claimed to be hearing hushed, unintelligible voices in his head. Assuming it was an onset of psychosis, the scientists paid little attention to the man’s concerns. Two days later, the man cried that he could hear his dead wife speaking with him, and even more, he could communicate back. The scientists were intrigued, but were not convinced until the subject started naming dead relatives of the scientists. He repeated personal information to the scientists that only their dead spouses and parents would have known. At this point, a sizable portion of scientists left the study. After a week of conversing with the deceased through his thoughts, the subject became distressed, saying the voices were overwhelming. In every waking moment, his consciousness was bombarded by hundreds of voices that refused to leave him alone. He frequently threw himself against the wall, trying to elicit a pain response. He begged the scientists for sedatives, so he could escape the voices by sleeping. This tactic worked for three days, until he started having severe night terrors. The subject repeatedly said that he could see and hear the deceased in his dreams. Only a day later, the subject began to scream and claw at his nonfunctional eyes, hoping to sense something in the physical world. The hysterical subject now said the voices of the dead were deafening and hostile, speaking of hell and the end of the world. At one point, he yelled “No heaven, no forgiveness” for five hours straight. He continually begged to be killed, but the scientists were convinced that he was close to establishing contact with God. After another day, the subject could no longer form coherent sentences. Seemingly mad, he started to bite off chunks of flesh from his arm. The scientists rushed into the test chamber and restrained him to a table so he could not kill himself. After a few hours of being tied down, the subject halted his struggling and screaming. He stared blankly at the ceiling as teardrops silently streaked across his face. For two weeks, the subject had to be manually rehydrated due to the constant crying. Eventually, he turned his head and, despite his blindness, made focused eye contact with a scientist for the first time in the study. He whispered “I have spoken with God, and he has abandoned us” and his vital signs stopped. There was no apparent cause of death

That sounds like the "old hag." I've experienced that about 5 or 6 times in my life. It's never been that violent though. I just felt a presence, and couldn't move or breath well. I never heard anything.
