Absolutely.

But be sure you start them on the full sized SR9 and not the SR9c, which is the compact.

A lot of newer shooters don't realize this but:

Larger handguns (dimensionally, not caliber) are ALWAYS easier to shoot. The only time a full sized handgun isn't good is if you plan to carry it.

If your sisters just want a nice handgun for general self defense, the Ruger SR9 is very basic and easy to use.

BUT make sure you take them to the store and have them see how it feels in their hands. Comfort is a huge thing with handguns. This is why I can't shoot Glocks worth a damn. The ergonomics are terrible.
