What's the consensus here on an excellent credit score?

For Credit card applications and such, the number I see is 720. Of course, they will go lower, but that seems to be the auto acceptance number.
This can change for various other forms of credit I imagine.
I will say once you hit 700 you are in very good shape. After that you are just getting more and more excellent.

The new norm is 740+ for the best rates. However, they will lend to everyone.

720+ will get you just about anything you need and is considered excellent.

One thing which Experian says can boost credit score is average credit card limits.
Which is the best option: Close smaller accounts or request increases in limits to put yourself over the next threshold?
