Without question an uphill battle. But I'm willing to do what I can to make it happen. I don't see the area surrounding as a huge obstacle. There are enough golfers within 15 miles that could benefit.

Now, if this doesn't make it....the area is done. I don't live in the area, but i would hate to see it for those good people that do.

how many commitments do you have Snatchola? 400 seems like quite a lot. seems like most BR people are used to playing different courses. do you think there will be critcial mass close enough to the course? Seems like that is the real value of being a member somewhere is proximity to the course.

This is very true. Sad, but very true. My parents still live on the course and have lived there for the past 15 years. The area around the club and course is still a good area. Its the area on the other side of Florida blvd and down Old Hammond that has the issues. The area by the course is still a good place because of the course. If the course goes, the good people living near it will go too. Not all, but some. And thats all it will take. I know my parents have already said in the past if the course goes, they will look to move else where. Its sad because its such an old course and historic. My grandfather played there when he was younger and was 1 of the 1st presidents of the club.

Ill pass this info on to my parents and all the people we know in the area. Sure they already know about it, but just to make sure ill let them know what Ive heard. Im sure they will get involved. Good Luck

O and what I quoted is what you said that sold me. Its not just about golf. Its about keeping an historic area of Baton Rouge still a solid place to live and raise a family, which IMO, is more important than golf. Pretty much every old family in Baton Rouge has some connection or childhood memories to the area or to SFCC. Would be sad to see a place with all that history and those memories destroyed...
