I watched it last night. I had never seen that one before. You can tell it was a pilot, with the different look on Spock, different uniforms, different Dr etc. Took me a minute to figure out that was Sally Kellerman.
The theme is one that was revisited in both TOS and TNG so it wasn't as fresh to me. Still overall a good episode.

I made some notes when I watched and here are a few:
•Uniforms
•This yeoman can get it
•Hot Lips can get it too
•It would have been interesting to go back and look more into these ESP tests they give officers
•It's like Spock went full circle. In this he was clearly more animated, emotional. By Undiscovered Country he exhibited hints of those emotions again, as if age had shown him that his half human half was as necessary as his Vulcan half.
•I still say the new movie should have been this.
•James Riberius Kirk
