Who on this website says that phrase without at least a hint of personal emotion and respect? None of us are lemmings. Almost all of us have been to Liverpool and are personally invested in what you assume is some phrase we just utter to sound cool. Some by association, some by personal or familial experience.

Obviously? I think its pretty evident by the responses that its far from obvious. The only obvious thing seems to be that you intentionally over-complicate your reasoning to justify what you said. I know you don't like Liverpool. That's fine. But don't say things like that without expecting someone to get offended.

Because we are Americans and the statement has dangerous overtones. My understanding is that the statement originated from the gross oversight and subsequent cover-up at Hillsborough. The irony is that I doubt people who say that care about something like Benghazi, which is more current and relevant.

Fwiw I genuinely have no problem with LFC and certainly have no problem with you or its fans. I would never pretend to be able to say the word Scouser in a disparaging way with a straight face.
