Fair weather implies that I only watch it / root for the U.S. when they're winning but jump ship when they're not which is not the case.
You know what I meant ... I was saying the more you watch the more you will become a FAN OF THE SPORT and just not someone that watches it once every four years. (fair weather fan)
I understand your sentiment on not being able to attach yourself to a club but I can assure you if you watch the matches you will find yourself gravitating to one club or another. There are a lot out their with many different styles. You have the EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Seria A, Ligue 1 to start off with.
Given you aren't from there with no connections this becomes a blessing you can be a fan of many teams. I was like this until I noticed that I cared for Liverpool more than any of the other clubs. I was then fortunate enough to make a Liverpool vs Everton Match @ Anfield and that seeled the deal for me and I have been married to LFC ever since.
I do hope you end up watching more and find a club you can call home you will be happier for it(maybe sadder too depending on who you choose)
This works the same for MLS though for my case I have a lot of friends from Houston so that was my natural choice.
