OKC was the 1 seed in the west, 2nd best record in the league and were 3rd in the NBA in scoring. They were the clear cut #2 in the league until Westbrook went down.
The Spurs ceded the number 1 seed in March. They don't care about the regular season. OKC pressed for it.Denver was the #3 seed, no one really thought they were going to be contenders. OKC had scoring, because of great isolation scorers. Without one of them their offensive system is non-existent. Last year they had the advantage of a PnR player like Harden who was the difference in the series. The Spurs were the better team.

they snuck in as an 8 seed and lost to a Westbrook-less OKC team. What are we looking at here? Harden and Parsons as your main cogs with Asik and Lin playing important roles.
Asik is an elite rim protector, Harden is the best shooting guard in the game right now.He is well ahead of anyone on the Pels roster. Parsons may not have Gordon's ceiling, but his impact is a little greater(on both sides of the court). Lin battled through injuries, but can be good sixth man. The Rockets are loaded with assets, something that can be flipped or developed.

EG shows up in 2013?
We were talking about an elite SG before the brutal rash of injuries.
Gordon
Davis
Holiday
Anderson as the wild card
Harden
Parsons
Asik
Montejunas as the wild card
I agree that HOU has assets, but it remains to be seen what they do with them. If they get Howard, they may become the team to beat in the West. Of course, Howard can be a cancer so who knows?

Smart too. This strategy paid dividends in game 7 of the finals.
