Haven't seen Belly in years and just now realized that's the movie he puts on in the beginning. Is there any background to this or just something random? From what I know there doesn't seem to be much connection between Hype Williams and Gummo.

I never got the connection either, but I saw Belly before Gummo. I didn't know what Gummo was till like a few months later when a few of my black friends made me watch it. Own both movies. I think they put it in as a way to say "look at these white people" they're so dysfunctional.
