@GeorgeSchroeder: NCAA announces it will release Oregon findings on Wednesday.
The Oregon Ducks, a pre-season national title contender, did not get hit with any bowl ban as part of the sanctions from the NCAA's Committee on Infractions, a source told CBSSports.com Wednesday.
The NCAA will hold a teleconference later this morning to explain its' report from an investigation into the school's use of football recruiting services under former coach Chip Kelly, who left UO in January to become the Philadelphia Eagles head coach. As part of the sanctions, Kelly has been hit with an 18-month show-cause penalty.
The Ducks will also have some scholarship reductions over each of the next two seasons.
In Kelly's four seasons as the Ducks head coach, Oregon went 46-7 and went to BCS bowls every years. Under Kelly, Oregon finished the past three seasons in the top four.
1. Public reprimand and censure.
2. Three years of probation from June 26, 2013, through June 25, 2016.
3. The number of initial athletically related financial aid awards in football that are countable under Bylaw 15.02.3 shall be reduced by one from the maximum allowed (25) during both the 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years. This limits the institution to 24 initial grants those two years under current rules. (Institution imposed)
4. The number of total athletically related financial aid awards in football shall be reduced by one from the maximum allowed (85) during the 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 academic years. This limits the institution to 84 total scholarships those three years under current rules. (Institution imposed)
5. Official paid visits in the sport of football shall be limited to 37 for each of the 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-6 academic years. The institution will not be allowed to retain unused visits for the following year ...
6. The permissible number of football evaluation days shall be limited to 36 (of 42) in the fall of 2013, 2014 and 2015. The permissible number of football evaluation days shall be limited to 144 (of 168) in the spring of 2014, 2015 and 2016.
7. A ban on the subscription to recruiting services during the period of probation.
8. The recruiting service provider will be disassociated by the institution's athletics program upon release of this report. (Institution imposed
9. The committee concluded that the former head coach failed in his duty to monitor his program as it related to the recruiting service provider's impermissible contact with prospective student-athletes, the football program's use of the recruiting service provider's business which did not comply with NCAA legislation, and the impermissible telephone calls placed by the former assistant director of operations. The former head coach agreed with these determinations. Therefore, pursuant to NCAA Bylaw 19.5, the committee imposes an 18-month show-cause order upon the former head coach. During this period, which begins on June 26, 2013, and runs through December 25, 2014, if any member institution seeks to hire the former head coach in an athletically related capacity, it and the former head coach shall appear before the Committee on Infractions to consider which, if any, of the show-cause procedures of Bylaw 19.5.2.2 (l) should be imposed upon him.
10. The committee concluded that the former assistant director of operations violated NCAA recruiting legislation.

Oregon should have released their new helmets shortly after.

Chip Kelly and Petey C. know when to make an exit.

This will be interesting to see what happens. They found 7 "major violations" and were considered repeat violators since the violations occurred while they were on probation from a previous major violation. I'm hoping the get hit hard (obviously ), but I think it will go something like 3 scholarships/year for 3 years, 5 year probation, and recruiting restrictions (less in-home visits, etc).

Chip Kelly will be very concerned about this as he sits in his giant office in Philly.

don't have to testify in front of the NCAA if you don't work under them.

I am interested in time served - the recruitniks believe Oregon has already restricted themselves on schollie count and in-homes.

Thankfully AU won that game so America won't have to see another title stripped.

We were on probation before that game I believe for the Coach Mac incident.
Fun Fact, coach was let go and player never played a down for LSU.

They should force them into wearing only 2 uniforms for the next 3 years.

Oregon will get the benefit of the USC fiasco.
...and the Miami blunder.
NCAA will go light b/c they know they're hanging by a thread with their hypocritical "Paul Dee" from Miami - B.S.

I was being serious...I don't think the NCAA is in a position to be heavy handed.
They took a lot of flak the last couple of years...and so many people think they're policing is out-dated and corrupt.
Yeah...it sucks USC had to take the bullet. And Miami is lucky too - that the heavy handed Paul Dee issuing the USC ruling just so happened to be in charge at Miami during their scandalous days.
