Arsenal have also shown a tactical flexibility of late. Against Swansea for instance, they lined up in a kind of 4-1-3-1-1, with Flamini patrolling the width of the pitch in front of the defence and Ozil floating behind Giroud. Yet once Arsenal have the ball, Ramsey races ahead of Ozil in support of Giroud. Against Napoli, there was a slight tweak to a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Arteta sitting alongside Flamini. I suspect this is an axis that Wenger will look to for games against formidable opponents.

This is one thing, I think that we are lacking for the past few seasons. This season, with the squad depth Arsene has, he can change the formation and tactics depending on the game.

my concern with Sagna is that he's our best RB and probably our 3rd best CB. either way, with him out, we only have one RB with any experience and 3 CBs. hamstring injuries have tended to nag our players in recent years. hope it isn't a recurring injury for baccy.

when Santi gets back, we'll have a midfield of Ozil, Santi, Rambo, Jack, Arteta, Flamini, and Rosicky. 7 guys for 3-4 spots. Ox should be a few more weeks but isn't super far off. though will Ozil's addition, the chance of him getting PT in one of the midfield three roles (which seemed fairly high in preseason) is pretty much nil, but at least he can play there. we're stacked in midfield. not worried about depth there at all.

(also, that's omitting Diaby who could get a few matches in the second half of the season before getting injured again)

striker depth and defensive depth, mainly at CB, could really hurt us though. i would be interested to see Theo at CF paired with Ozil. maybe Ozil could inspire Poldi to play a little differently there too. Beowulf...who knows. Sanogo...we know even less.
